John Aldrup-MacDonald

John is a sixth-year PhD in Classical Studies. At the moment he is completing a dissertation tentatively titled “Beyond Epigraphy: Toward a History of Documentary Texts in Athenian Law and Politics from the Peloponnesian War to 323 B.C.E.” His broader interests include Greek and Latin epigraphy, documentary Greek and Latin, and epistolography. Prior to coming to Duke, John did an M.A. in Classical Literature and Literary Theory at UC Santa Barbara; before that, he fell almost by accident into Classical Languages as a first-generation college student at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, where a language requirement got him into Latin and a year abroad at Oxford into Greek.
