Hecuba: Ship of State, Prow of Life
This talk explores Hecuba’s matriarchal power in Euripides and charts her emergence as a paradigm of maternal-political power—a power of a kind which has gone without sufficient comment in classical studies despite standing in striking opposition to both ancient Greek and contemporary forms of patriarchy.
